Morgan Ortigas said the first meeting of the two heads of state was a success and it was time to implement and move forward on the promises made in those meetings.

He said the US and NATO forces have made many sacrifices and spent billions of dollars in Afghanistan, but the US wants the Afghan people to decide their own future.

"We are committed to establishing peace in Afghanistan, for which Imran Khan has promised that he will encourage dialogue with the Afghan government over the Taliban," a US State Department spokesman said.

On the question of the hostages' recovery, Morgan Ortiz said they were working with Pakistan to recover the hostages.
